Ipswich Town forwards Omari Hutchinson and Jaden Philogene scored for England Under-21s as they beat Portugal 4-2 at the Hawthorns.

The former Chelsea man was named in the starting lineup, with Blues team-mates Liam Delap and Jaden Philogene on the bench.

Portugal actually started the better of the two teams, but Hayden Hackney and Ethan Nwaneri both scored in the opening 10 minutes of the match to give the Young Lions a healthy lead.

Hutchinson had a chipped shot cleared off the line shortly after that, with Portugal getting one back in the 23rd minute via Fabio Silva.

Portugal pushed for an equaliser before the break, and they were arguably the better team at the start of the second half too. Delap and Philogene were both introduced in the 70th minute, giving Lee Carsley's side some fresh ideas in the final third.

Delap came incredibly close to scoring just five minutes after coming on, forcing a great save with a header from a corner.

Portugal didn't learn their lesson and England grabbed their third from a corner seconds later. James McAtee's corner was played out to CJ Egan-Riley onto the edge of the box, allowing him to knock it back into the danger zone.

That's where the Town man was able to make his move, popping up with a well-timed header to make it 3-1 in the 76th minute. It takes his total to two goals, two assists and one red card in four caps at the level.

Carlos Forbs, on loan at Wolves from Ajax, capped off a quick counter to make it 3-2 right at the end of the match, setting up a big finale as his side threw bodies up the pitch.

It allowed England to kill off the game through Philogene, who found space down the left following a pass from McAtee. He cut inside and curling a low shot into the net to make it 4-2 in stoppage time - his fourth goal in nine appearances for the Young Lions.

All three players will now return to Suffolk ahead of Ipswich's trip to AFC Bournemouth next week.
