Several reports on Thursday and Friday said that rides at the Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California are closed following a magnitude 4.1 earthquake near Corona. The quake struck Orange County on Wednesday afternoon and tremors were felt across multiple regions in the state. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) had noted the earthquake's preliminary magnitude at 4.3.
The earthquake occurred at 1:49 PM local time at a depth of nearly a mile, its epicenter located in the Santa Ana Mountains approximately 5.6 miles southwest of Corona, near the border of Riverside and Orange counties. No injuries or significant damage were reported.
“We have received no reports of damage or injuries, and our firefighters are surveying their coverage areas,” the Orange County Fire Authority said in a statement 0n X, platform formerly known as Twitter.
At Disneyland California, several tourists said they felt the tremors. According to Inside the Magic, a website that regularly reports about Disneyland Parks, the Anaheim premisis were evacuated for a short time and rides were closed down for around three hours.
However, it appears that the rides were soon started. At the time of writing this story, the Disneyland Park's website shows The Briar Patch, Haunted Mansion, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln and Pooh Corner are temprarily unavailable due to refurbishment.
In December last year, an earthquake caused chaos at Disneyland. A 3.5 magnitude earthquake had hit one mile east of Fullerton, California. Visitors at Disneyland reported feeling brief shaking.
