What Popular Brand of Apple Juice is Being Recalled in Louisiana?

S. Martinelli & Company has voluntarily recalled a specific lot of its Martinelli's Apple Juice due to elevated levels of inorganic arsenic, as reported by the company. The recall was prompted by findings from a sampling conducted by the State of Maryland, which revealed that samples of Martinelli's apple juice exceeded the approved level for inorganic arsenic in apple juice established by the FDA in June 2023.

Side effects of overconsumption of inorganic arsenic:

skin disorders
an increased risk for diabetes
high blood pressure
several types of cancer.

The affected product is the one-liter (33.8 fl. oz.) bottle of Martinelli's Apple Juice with a "Best By" date of "09MAR2026" or "10MAR2026" printed on the front of the bottle above the label. This particular lot of apple juice was distributed between March 13, 2023, and September 27, 2023, with the majority shipped prior to July 28, 2023.

The apple juice exceeded the industry level of inorganic arsenic set by the FDA is sold at Target, Albertsons, and Whole Foods.

While no illnesses or complaints associated with the recalled product have been reported thus far, S. Martinelli & Company urges retailers to stop distribution and sales of the juice produced on the identified lot. Retailers are instructed to remove any remaining bottles from their shelves and contact Martinelli's for further instructions regarding product disposition, refunds, and replacements.
