Saudi Arabia and Mauritania sign MoU for energy cooperation

RIYADH
—Saudi Arabia's Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, met with the Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Al-Nani Ould Achrouqa, in Riyadh on Tuesday to discuss prospects for cooperation in various fields of energy.

During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the special meeting of WEF held in Riyadh, the two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the two countries in the sectors of electricity, renewable energy, and clean hydrogen.

The MOU highlights partnership opportunities in the renewable energy sector, such as solar energy, wind energy, converting waste into energy, and ground energy, as well as developing and improving the electricity system to raise the level of reliability and security of the system.

The MOU calls for developing cleaner fossil fuels utilizing the best available technologies and practices to address environmental impacts. Including technologies to trap carbon dioxide, enhancing the efficiency of energy production and consumption.
