It’s the go-to site when you’ve got a burning question to be answered, and now Google has revealed what the UK searched for in 2018.

The 2018 Year in Search reveals the people, topics, events and places that the UK searched for this year.

Key events featured prominently - including the World Cup, Royal Wedding and Royal Baby.

Several blockbuster films were also on the UK’s mind this year, with Black Panther and A Star is Born both in the UK’s top 10 trending queries.

In terms of trending TV shows, British drama triumphed, with the Bodyguard, The Cry and Killing Eve all making the top ten searches.

Top Google Searches 2018

However, it’s the top ‘How to?’ and ‘What is?’ lists that caught our attention.

Some of the most weird and wonderful searches included ‘How to floss dance?’, ‘How to bleed radiators?’ and ‘What is an ibex?’

Kirstin Wright, a Google Search Trends expert said: “The 2018 Year in Search lists give us an insight into the things that captured the nation’s attention over the past 12 months - from major moments in news, sports and entertainment, through to the the latest dance craze.

“Twenty years after its launch, Google Search continues to evolve as people look for information in new and different ways, but our focus remains the same - to make the world’s information accessible and useful to everyone.”
