Burkina Faso – Forced Displacement, Floods (DG ECHO, Government, International Aid Organisations) (ECHO Daily Flash of 19 September 2017)

Following violent attacks and intimidation, more than 3 200 people have left several villages in the commune of Nassoumbou (province of Soum). They have sought refuge in Djibo, capital of the province, and even further south. Food and non-food items have been distributed by the ICRC to 6 000 people, including IDPs and host families.

Some 16 000 people have been affected by floods. The government entity for emergency response has provided relief assistance to the affected populations.

Food security perspectives for the 33 000 Malian refugees in Burkina Faso are very worrying. From October onwards, the food assistance pipeline is insufficiently covered.
