An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck the area near Fry, Greece on Wednesday morning. Tremors were felt around 4:21 am. According to the United States Geological Survey, the affected countries were Türkiye, Egypt, Greece, and Libya. The epicentre was 38 km from Karpathos, Greece. Initial assessments had measured the tremor at 6.4 magnitude, though the US Geological Survey later reported it as 6.1. BNO News reported that the quake caused moderate shaking in parts of Crete, Kasos, and Karpathos islands of Greece.
Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Greece has issued tsunami warning in Kasos and advised residents to stay cautious. The post by the government read as: “A magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred 48km SE of Kasos. Risk of possible Tsunami in your area. Move away from the coast immediately. Follow the instructions of Local Authorities.”

The tremors were felt in Egypt also with the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics reporting no casualties or property damage.
Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 had struck Pakistan on Monday, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported. The details were shared by the NCS in a post on X. The tremor occurred at 13:26:32 IST, with its epicentre located at latitude 29.12 North and longitude 67.26 East. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.
“EQ of M: 4.6, On: 12/05/2025 13:26:32 IST, Lat: 29.12 N, Long: 67.26 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Pakistan,” National Center for Seismology wrote on X. Notably, Pakistan is one of the most seismically active countries in the world, which is being crossed by several major faults.
