Conference on 27 March to examine India-Sri Lanka economic connectivity as catalyst for growth

Verité Research will host a conference titled, “Riding the Indian Wave: The World’s Fifth Largest Economy on Sri Lanka’s Shores” on 27 March, at ITC Ratnadipa Hotel, Colombo from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This hybrid conference, where participants and panellists will join virtually and in person, will provide a platform for senior policymakers, industry leaders, and economic experts from Sri Lanka and India to explore economic opportunities arising from India’s economic ascent for neighbouring countries.

It will explore how Sri Lanka can leverage its proximity and enhanced connectivity to promote trade and investment, which is critical for the sustainable recovery of the Sri Lankan economy.

The plenary session of the conference will delve into India’s economic ascent and the growth opportunities for neighbouring countries located in proximity to this fast-growing large economy. Dr. Shamika Ravi, a member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India, will be joining this session as a speaker.

Session one will bring together industry leaders from both countries doing business with each other to share their experiences and insights on emerging business opportunities in India for Sri Lanka.

Session two will explore how Sri Lanka’s strategic location can be maximised to support maritime transport, logistics, and energy connectivity. Experts from shipping, logistics and energy sectors will share their insights on the untapped potential for collaboration in these sectors.

The conference deliberations and discussions are expected to contribute meaningfully to the Government’s plans and policies to promote exports, increase foreign direct investments and accelerate economic growth.
